Privacy policy
This policy explains what Brain Rate collects and what we do with it. Plain language, no dark patterns.
What we collect
If you take the free short test without an account, we do not require your name or email. Your answers are scored in your browser session and, unless you save them, they are not tied to an identity.
If you create an account, we store your email address, an authentication record, and each scored attempt you complete: your answers, timing, scored estimate and the resulting range.
If you buy the full assessment, we store a payment record containing the amount, currency, timestamp and the payment processor's session and charge identifiers. We never receive or store your card number.
We collect basic technical information needed to serve the site securely, such as request logs.
Why we collect it
To score your test and show your result. To keep your attempts available so you can reopen a report and compare over time. To recognise a paid unlock as belonging to you. To handle support, refunds and disputes. To keep the service secure and detect abuse.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered directly into Stripe's hosted checkout and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. Stripe processes that data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We share only what is necessary with the providers that run the service: our hosting and database provider, and our payment processor.
We may disclose information where we are legally required to.
How long we keep it
Account data and attempts are kept while your account exists. Payment records are retained as long as required for accounting, tax and dispute-handling purposes, even after account deletion.
Anonymous short-test results that you never save are not retained after your session.
Your choices
You can delete your account at any time from your account page, which removes your attempts and profile. You can request an export or deletion by emailing us. You can take the short test without ever creating an account.
Cookies and local storage
We use storage that is necessary for the site to function: keeping you signed in, and holding an in-progress test so a refresh doesn't lose your answers. We do not use advertising cookies.
Children
Brain Rate is for ages 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
Data is stored on managed infrastructure with access controls and row-level security so that account records are only readable by the account they belong to. No system is perfectly secure, and we tell affected users where we are required to.
